January dieters targeted with unsafe weight loss products
January is the most popular time of year for people to go on a diet. So it's no big surprise that diet aids and books are everywhere you look right now.
Let's get real: Pills, drinks, patches, and teas will definitely make your wallet lighter but they aren't going to melt away fat. And certain products out there may actually do harm. The FDA has just released a warning about weight loss products containing unsafe or unapproved ingredients, including pharmaceutical drugs and other chemicals that are not disclosed on the labels.
For a list of (known) unsafe products, please refer to the FDA warning.

Excellent advice, Monica. Some of these companies should be sued or fined. But they're often fly-by-night operations that are hard to pin down.

In addition to being unsafe for your body, many of these websites are unsafe for your pocket book! I was recently scammed by a company offering"free" samples of ACAI BERRY supplements. I ordered a sample and 200.00 later, my credit card company is going after them. Buyer beware!
