Poll: What drives your food choices? Nutrition? Cost? Environmental Concerns?
We all try to make good choices with what we eat, but there are so many things to take into consideration: Is it good for me? Is it environmentally responsible? Can I afford it? Will I enjoy eating it?
It's great when you can find foods that measure up on all counts. But, of course, we often have to settle for some sort of compromise. When forced to choose between various priorities, what ends up being the deciding factor for you when choosing what foods to buy or order in restaurants?

I used to eat terribly... fast food, etc. I thought that eating was supposed to make you feel kinda sick afterwards.
Now I try to eat food that's fresh, healthy, and environmentally friendly and I can't believe how much better I feel.

I usually eat what tastes good, but thankfully I like the flavor of vegetables and fruits more than most meats. When left to my own resources, I tend to make rather healthy dishes that taste amazing.
Flavor comes first for me.

Although I technically fall into the Nutricurian category at this time I am leaning into the Ethicurian Category....once you open your eyes to nutrition through environmentally reponsible means it's hard to put your blinders back on!

I was torn on this poll, I do eat healthy for the most part and think about my food choices based on a varity of nutrients and food groups. I won't eat something just because it's healthy. It must taste good.

poor Epicurus . . . his teachings have been so misunderstood that they have come to mean wanton and immediate satisfaction of desire . . . which could hardly be further from the truth when you actually study what he wrote.
Nevertheless, the word "sophisticated" now means something positive, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

I try to eat as healthy as possible; chemically free ideally. Meat is not part of my everyday diet.
My parents grow a virtually organic garden and my mother prepares all of her meals from scratch.
I love it!

I'm a fresh organic raw plant eater. I eat raw seeds, raw nuts, raw sprouts, sea weed, veggies (especially the leafy green kind), herbs, fruits, cold stone-pressed extra virgen olive oil, cold pressed extra virgen coconut oil, dried spices, and locally produced raw honey.
Eating this way is not only more nutritious, but more ethical. No animals are slaughtered, packaging wasted or pesticides dumped to fuel my body. Is it a bit more expensive? Yes, but it is highly highly worth it for the healthy benefits. Besides, I grow a lot of my own food, which saves money spent on going to the gym for excersize and on food. Eating this way also makes it easier for me to KNOW where my food comes from. When shopping for food, I try to buy produce grown as close to my home as possible.
AND I get to eat the BEST chocolate ever, raw chocolate! Everyone should try raw cacao. It's awesome.

Quality soil and non-altered food of great variety that is more raw than overly cooked is the obvious choice. However, most important is the quality of actually eating the food, especially the carb-type foods. CHEWING is the critical factor, at least twenty to thiry chews per bite before swallowing! Those with health or weight issues will really benefit by the masticating of the pre-digestion saliva, really!!! --Edd.M.

I am vegan, and the way my food is produced means a lot to me, but I eat what's healthful- I'm a nutrition student after all!

I used to love burgers and fries and stuff like that. I still eat that stuff but hardly ever anymore.I have heart conditions and medications I am on that I need to have spinach every day and guess what. I love Spinach. I could eat that stuff till The Cows came home. But I also love being healthy, I love being happy. Life is so vital these days. I want to eat that other stuff but not unless I am with someone who is eating that stuff. I used to go and buy burgers from White Spot on my own. Not anymore.
