New search results pages are here!
The next phase of our redesign efforts goes live this week, featuring a brand-new design for our search results page. You'll see this page when searching for foods using the food search box and also when using the Nutrient Search Tool and Food Category Explorer. I think you are going to love this new design, because it makes it so much easier to find the foods you are looking for!
Here's a preview!
Let's say you type "egg" into the food search box (which you'll find in the upper right hand corner of every page) and search "in all categories." When you click on the orange "search" button, you'll see the following:
At the top of the page, you'll see how many foods matched your search term; in this case, 164. Then you'll see a list of all the categories that contain foods that match your search. The number in parentheses shows how many of the search results are in each category. I think you'll find this feature particularly helpful when using the Nutrient Search Tool and Food Category Explorer because it will show you at a glance what type of foods best fulfill the criteria you're searching for.
Below the category display, you'll see a list of all the foods that match your search. Here are some of the convenient new features:
Narrow/Widen your Search
Click on any category at the top of the page in order to display ONLY the results from that category. (Or, if you've chosen to display foods from a single category, you can widen your search to include all categories with a single click.)
Add Foods to Pantry with One Click!
Add foods to your pantry with a single click by clicking on the orange "add to pantry button" next to any food in the list.
Customize your Search Results
If you don't wish to include certain categories, such as "baby foods" or "foods from McDonalds," in your searches, click on the orange "set category preferences" button and uncheck any categories you don't want to see. (Note: Category preferences will remain in effect until you reset them.)
As always, we're interested in your feedback so let us know what you think of the new search pages.

Ever since the nutritiondata website was revamped, printing the nutritional information associated with a pantry recipe does not work as expected. I have sent 4 emails to feedback@nutritiondata.com and keep getting the same automated message back, despite the fact that the automated message says if the reply doesn't solve the problem, provide more detailed information. Apparently, the more detailed information is going into a black hole.
Can you tell me when a printer-friendly version of the nutrition data recipe or food analysis will be available?
