Check out our new food detail pages!
Another exciting phase of our redesign rolls out today with a brand new design for two of our most important pages: the food and recipe detail pages and the total consumption report.
New Food Detail Page
The new food/recipe detail pages contains the same detailed information as the original analysis page, but we've rearranged it to make it a bit easier to find and use the information you're looking for--as well as to make the whole page a little easier on the eye.
Toward the top of the page, you'll see our popular graphic summaries, which give you a lot of information at a glance. Underneath each graphic, you'll also see a "what's this?" link. Clicking on these links will bring up a quick explanation of how each graphic works and guidlines on how to use them--without you having to leave the page. The recipe detail page also includes the summary of the ingredients in that recipe right at the top of the page. Scroll down the page to see the detailed nutritional analysis.
New Total Consumption Report
We've also redesigned the total consumption report. All the foods you've added to your tally are displayed in alphabetical order, along with the quantity you've selected. Next to each food, you'll see some basic information about that food: how many calories that serving contains and what percentage it contributes to your total caloric intake, as well as how much fat, protein, and carbohydrate it provides. (To get a complete nutritional analysis of any food in your report, click on that food.) You can also change the quantity for any food and click "update quantities." To add new foods or to clear your tally and start a new one, return to the main pantry page.
You'll also find "Better Choices" links next to each food in your list, which will show you similar foods that are better for weight loss, weight gain, or optimal nutrition. (See yesterday's post for more on how we rank foods.) The Better Choices links can help you fine tune your dietary choices to bring them into line with your dietary goals.
So, what do you think?
Although they might be slightly unfamiliar at first, I think you'll quickly find that the new pages are much easier and nicer to read and use. Let us know what you think!

So, something has to be added to the Total Consumption in order to check "Better Choices". Wasn't this available on the Food Detail pages before?
