A safe way to burn more calories

Q. In order to increase the calories I burn during my walks I've been wearing a weighted vest.  Does this work?

A. I took your question to our resident fitness expert, Stephen Cabral, who says walking with a weight vest is a great way to burn extra calories during workouts or when you are out for a walk.

"One great feature of many of these vests," says Steve, "is that the you can vary the weight of the vest by adding or subtracting individual weights from the vest's pockets. This will allow you to gradually increase the resistance and as a result improve your cardiovascular conditioning."

A weighted vest is a much better choice than walking or working out with ankle or hand-held weights, Steve says, because it is much less likely to cause injury or muscle strain. Vests "don't load one isolated joint," he points out. "With a vest you are able to distribute weight over your entire upper body forcing your core, hips, and legs to carry the weight."

Based on Steve's feedback, I'd say that a weight vest is a safe and effective way to increase calorie burn during your walks.

For Weight Vests you should go to weightvest.com and get a v-max weight vest. It's been around since 1981, When I was 1 years old (do the math) hyperwear.com is a knock off company and don't have a lifetime guarantee like V-Max vests. I don't work for weightvest.com, I just have had one of their vests for 5 years now and it still works like new. Do a google search for weight vest and you'll see weightvest.com is the first to pop up.

dear Shazia,

are you located in the UK? I noticed that you said you were a certain "kg". My son-in-law Richard just got me exposed to this world wide web, and I like it a lot. Did you get a chance to go to http://www.hyperwear.com ?

Brett,

I just went to http://www.hyperwear.com and I found the exercise vest that your son-in-law recommended. Yeah, you should try it out.

I am 62 years old, and I use an exercise vest, but mine is going old and is somewhat torn. My son-in-law recommended http://www.hyperwear.com but I'm not very good with the computer. Do any of you know much of this organization?
