Martial Arts Training for You

Martial arts training One great way to beat the monotony of going to the gym every day is to spice it up with a class or two per week. I also think that if you haven’t tried a martial art before it may be just what you’re looking for to reenergize your training program.

Plus, martial arts’ training provides many benefits. Here are just a few:

• Lose and maintain your weight
• Boost immune system
• Improve mind-muscle connection
• Speed up reaction time
• Sleep better
• Build confidence and self-esteem

If you’re interested in training in a martial arts style, I would suggest doing some additional research and asking around to see what discipline may be best for you.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your informative comments.

Flexibility is a great benefit to add to the list!

Martial arts have been keeping me fit and healthy for a good few years now.

Flexibility is worth adding to the list of benefits above.

As for styles I find boxing and kickboxing good for fitness, Taekwondo is great for flexibility too. Wing Chun is not as good for fitness but ideal for self defence (building confidence and self-esteem), Capoeira is great for muscle tone and overall body strength. All of them will help improve reaction time etc.

There are of course hundreds of other martial arts these are just my observations of the ones I have done. I currently teach martial arts in London at a club called Southfields Wing Chun
