Guilt Free Peanut Butter

I don’t know about you but doing most of my dieting in the fat free era of the 80's I still tend to be a bit wary of things heavy in fat. As a result I even gave up peanut butter because it was one of those foods I could literally eat right out of the jar. But at long last I have found a great tasting peanut butter that is almost all protein with very little fat. (Contrary to common thinking peanut butter is mostly a healthy fat not a particularly high protein source.) Anyway the peanut butter I now enjoy is called PB2. Two tablespoons has 52.2 calories, 3.4 carbs, and 5.65 grams of protein.

And yes, it really does taste good! And, because you basically just add water to the pure dried peanut mix you can make up as little or as much of what you want. Incidentally, it also comes with a chocolate version. That I won't tempt myself with!

@Nick A: I think they just squish it. They also sell roasted peanut oil :-) As far as I can tell they just hit on the genius idea of selling the leftovers from making peanut oil to dieters.

I know several people who have requested a PB2 without added sugar. They emailed me back to say it's on the list but it was over a year ago before the chocolate kind came out. It's in the FAQ now saying demand isn't high enough. Send them an email so they know more of us are out there!

I like PB2 also, not just made up into peanut butter but sprinkled dry on top of cereal, yogurt, banannas, sugar free vanilla pudding...etc. The company that makes it has a website where users post recipes. Some are a little overboard but many are very good and quite healthy.

Ingredients: Peanuts
you'd be surprised how sweet natural peanut butter is without all of the added sugar, oil, and other junk that is added to most jarred brands you see at the store- not to mention, it is much better for you.

As a trainer I always tell my clients the best thing they can do for themselves is to get rid of processed foods and additives. You will be pleasantly surprised how quickly your results speed up and your health improves once you cut all the junk out.

This is wonderful!! I am a peanut butter lover but also have stayed far away from it because of the insane fat content. I, too, am a fat gram watcher and have sacrificed my love for peanut butter. I was able to locate a retailer within 5 miles of my home which means I can give this a whirl! Thanks so much for this idea and I'll let you know how I like it.

Interesting product. I read the ingredients, and there's nothing suspect or controversial. I could do without the added sugar, but it's only 2 grams per two tablespoon serving, which is virtually nothing.

I'd be interested to see precisely how they remove the oil from the peanut butter.

I can see this being helpful for dieting or for people with thyroid issues that still want to enjoy PB, but I'll stick to normal PB. The healthy fats are one of the prime reasons I eat it.
