Super Foods and Why They Promote Weight Loss
A few weeks ago Dana blogged specifically on some of the “Super Foods.” Research has also indicated that these particularly nutrient rich dense foods offer us the least amount of calories (except for dark chocolate, so moderate this particular super food) at a lower cost, because most of them come from the produce section at the grocery store. In fact this theory is so popular a book called The Super Foods Rx Diet, Lose Weight with the Power of Super Nutrients by Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, MA, RD, and Steven Pratt, MD was released last year. Apparently these foods may help benefit your weight loss efforts without excess hunger and deprivation. (Who needs willpower when your brain is being supplied with essential nutrients that regulate blood sugar and hunger?)
What are some of the great things they do in terms of weight loss? Oranges for example, are considered a super food because they're so rich in vitamin C which the authors believe may help break down fat. Green and black teas have been studied as an aid to increase metabolism, enhance fat burning and decrease fat storage. Probiotics are finally being recognized as to how they help enhance gastrointestinal health while aiding you in metabolizing calories.
Tomorrow I’ll discuss some super spices that may be beneficial for weight loss.

Hi Rolando, I really doubt if the juice does the same because it is so processed and does not contain the fiber(or other nutrients) as a fresh orange. Besides the juice is still mostly sugar from the orange.

Will drinking orange juice provide the same fat break down behavior as eating oranges?
