Workaholics and Being Overweight - 1
Yesterday I brought up the concept of how being overweight and unhealthy can be a result of being overworked. The next few days I'll cover a few important solutions.
-Keep a truly rational schedule blocking out both work and non-work time. Learn to delegate if needed. Non-work time should eventually include both planning and shopping to prepare simple meals and regular activity. (Start with Steve's Four Weeks to a Fitter You for starting activity and maybe Getting smart about what you eat, to help make better food choices.) I remind my clients in order to be a good employee you need some rest time otherwise you’ll end up making more mistakes and continually back pedal in the long run. You’ll also be more creative if you allow some “down” time for yourself.
-Learn to say “no” to unnecessary things. With this one it is important to seriously understand what a specific request all entails. You can always say, “I need to check my calendar first.” When it’s too much, don’t be afraid to refuse. And note you really don’t need to tell a person why you are unable to do something or go someplace.
-Stay organized. Nothing wastes more time than not being able to find things when you need them. A really unorganized environment also makes you feel disorganized and even more stressed.
Tomorrow I’ll finish up on a few more solutions.
