Give A Gift for Healthy Cooking

Looking to give or get a gift that will help you prepare healthy, weight-loss friendly meals - here are a few kitchen must haves...Crock_pot_3

Rice Cooker - a rice cooker will help you make the perfect rice and grains. Rice cookers do not necessary speed up the cooking process, but they allow you the freedom of not having to watch your grains cook - you can just set it to cook and it will finish on its own.

Immersion Blender - an immersion blender can help you make creamy soups without adding cream which helps keep your food low in fat. It can also be used to make mashed cauliflower or sweet potatoes. Some immersion blenders come with attachments such as a chopper or beater which can be used to make homemade salad dressing or dicing up vegetables.

Slow Cooker/Crock Pot - a slow cooker is great because you can leave it unattended. All you have to do is set up dinner in the morning and it will be ready for you when you return home from work. You place all your ingredients in the slow cooker and set the timer and your food cooks on a low temperature for anywhere from 6-12 hours. You can make weight-loss friendly soups, stews, whole chickens and even roasts in a slow cooker.
