Getting Rid of Water Weight

J0201637 Yesterday I mentioned some reasons for water retention, today I will offer some useful solutions.

-Consume at least eight glasses of filtered water daily.  Drink more if you have a tendency to retain fluids in general. I know some of you resist this idea especially when you are feeling puffy. You might even think that by drinking more water it will make you even more bloated. This is not true. The kidneys perceive inadequate water intake as a threat to survival and hold on to more water! When you are flying or sitting in the car traveling for long periods of time drink at least eight ounces for every hour you are traveling.
-Fluid retention also has to do with your lack of activity and poor blood circulation. Get up now and then while traveling. When you get to your destination try to walk around for 15 minutes or so to get the blood moving.
-Avoid salty snacks, alcohol, and caffeine. These will all dehydrate you further and really cause up and down shifts on the scale.
-Add the juice of one fresh lemon to eight ounces of water. Do this several times a day as needed. Lemon juice is a natural and gentle diuretic.
-You might also try 50 mg. of vitamin B6 a few times a day for a couple of days when you travel or are retaining fluids. You will have to purchase a separate B6 supplement to obtain the recommended amount.
-Ladies, all these tips help around your menstrual cycle too when you might be retaining fluids.

As I said yesterday, remember excess water weight will go away after a day or two but real weight gain from consuming too much food will hang on until you start consuming less and moving more!
