Cold Weather Workout

Cold_weather_workoutI have to admit this workout idea came from one of my clients in Boston who meets with me 2-3 times per week…

On her off days she uses the Copley Mall in downtown Boston to do her walking when it’s too cold to go outside. I thought this was a great idea since she doesn’t like going to the gym and doesn’t want to freeze while trying to get in some exercise.

Her plan is to put on her pedometer and walk both levels of the mall for about 60 minutes. She keeps a strong and steady pace passing by all the window shoppers and comes pretty close to reaching her 10,000 steps.

With her activities during the rest of the day she easily accomplishes her goal and she checks back in with me and keeps me updated when we go through resistance training workouts on the other days.

It’s a simple straight forward plan to not let the cold keep you from working out. I urge you to give it a try or write in with your own way you exercise and stay out of the cold.

Personally, I love to exercise in the cold. I never find it too cold to go out and I live in a climate where it can go down to -40 C with the wind chill. The trick is to dress in layers and keep moving. On the contrary, I find the cold motivate me more to exercise and you will burn calories just from the body keeping you warm. When you get back inside, your body has a nice tingling sensation from all the blood circulating.

Hey! We used to drink that stuff to get high when I was a teen-ager. I don't remember if it actually stopped a cold but we didn't care! Imagine what it would do a young, under developed nervous system. Maybe that's why there's so much more ADHD and AUTISM now-a-days. Those guys that got the grant to study cow's belches should get a grant to study this.http://allnutri.com/pid36354/umcka+cold+care+grape+flavor.aspx
