Think Before You Eat

J0409578 When I suggest think before you eat, I mean really think before you eat even though you might be feeling overwhelmed by all the sights, smells, and overall anticipation of a great holiday meal sitting right before you.

So start mentally preparing yourself both for Thanksgiving Day and the following month of December parties and holiday gatherings. The idea is to do this every single day until it becomes a very strong and embedded habit increasing your will power and making your thought process positive regarding your weight loss/maintenance goals.

Every single morning and evening go to a mirror, close the door and talk to yourself. Question yourself about just how important your weight and health are as a priority in your life. Ask something like this: "Is it really more important to gratify a momentary impulse of overeating, or to lose weight and be healthy?" Take a few moments to really reflect about the direct consequences of your action and how it might impede your progress and how you might feel after the event. Get into the habit of doing this daily before you brush your teeth in the morning and every evening so it becomes an ingrained part your normal thinking pattern every single time you are tempted with excess food.

By the time Thanksgiving comes and December parties arrive this strong positive thinking will take hold and you will automatically strive for moderation in your holiday eating.

Thinking and having a positive attitude is okay, but Behavior is what really counts.
If one just relies on positve thinking without the Behavior they will lose.
