Let's Talk Turkey Challenges

J0422845 The big turkey day is right around the corner. I can already smell the pumpkin pie which is the one thing I really look forward to on Thanksgiving Day, but for many people there’s a little dread associated with this day of known gluttony. Now is the time to plan a strategy to stay in control.

One of the first things to think about is what are your known weaknesses on this day? If you don’t know what your challenges are how can you possibly overcome them?  Let’s start by identifying them now so you can prepare yourself.

-Can you gracefully say “no thank you” to some of the items you really don’t care about but will eat anyway if they are on your plate?
-Can you really enjoy yourself despite choosing a few favorite fattening items and without beating yourself up and feeling guilty about it?
-Are you adequately prepared both mentally and physically for this huge eating event and not succumb to heavy overeating?
-If you are preparing the meal yourself do you know how to cut the calories yet still not compromise the flavors?
-Do you know how to ask for adequate support from others? Will you get the support (not the food police) you need? If not why?

Readers what are your specific challenges and how do you overcome them?
