"How Many Times a Week Should I Do the Same Exercises?"

One of our blog readers just wrote in asking "how many times a week should I do the same exercises?"How_many_times_a_week_should_i_do_t

Answer:
The quick answer is that although you do want to progress up in each exercise almost every week you do not want to repeat that same exercise multiple times in the same week.

For example if you were doing a dumbbell chest press on a ball for 15 repetitions you would not want to do that same exercise again that week unless you varied the reps and dropped them down to around 8. The reason for this is that you have many other ways of targeting the same movement as the chest press and don't want to limit yourself to just that one exercise.

Instead, you would also do push-ups, standing cable chest presses or hundreds of other movements to mimic the motion of the dumbbell chest press on the ball…
