Fighting "Belly Hunger"

J0402348 We all seem to know about that dangerous belly fat but did you know that the flatter your tummy is the less hungry you will be? Apparently abdominal fat produces a hunger-causing hormone called neuropeptide Y.  As if having a larger stomach isn’t enough, right?

Scientists will try to find a medication to help with this but don’t forget, a lot can be done with how and what we eat. Here are some good old fashioned ways to beat hunger:

  • Eat whole, unprocessed foods with satisfying amounts of fiber filling nutrients.
  • Consume a well-balanced diet. Lopsided diets trigger more hunger because they can stimulate an imbalance in blood sugar.
  • Always have a small amount of lean protein at each meal to help satiate your hunger.
  • Make it a point whenever you can to eat slowly and mindfully.
  • Have a small healthy snack every three to four hours to avoid getting overly hungry.
  • Utilize ND's Fullness Factor when considering your daily food choices. Some foods really will help fill your stomach faster, remain in your tummy longer, and keep you satisfied longer.

Readers what do you do to starve off hunger?
