Weekend Diet Sabotage

J0422220 Ok it’s only Thursday but I want to prepare you for this weekend and all the following weekends ahead. Weekends can be a big downfall for many a dieter because the routine may be so different. So what do you do?

I always try to plan ahead. That’s been my favorite motto for my weight loss success over the last 20 years. Why should it change now? Anyway, if you know what your weekend looks like you can plan a strategy to stay on track better.

For example I do a lot of errands and many times I have found that by lunchtime I have completed the chores and I’m hungry. Rather than eat out all the time (this saves money too of course) I pack either a healthy snack or even my whole lunch. I’m already in the habit of bringing a lunch to work anyway, so what’s one more day of doing it?

If I’m planning on going to a social eating event I watch my fat and carbs at my other meals and save them from when I am eating out.

If I’m going to a friend’s house for dinner I call ahead (under the guise of “What can I bring?”) then I can bring something that I know I can eat without guilt, as well as balance my food out.

Another option is to plan activity into your weekend. Sign up for a class that you actually have to pay for so you won’t be so inclined to skip out on the exercise. Or just plan your social outings with an activity.

Readers what are your weekend challenges? What do you do on weekends to stay on track when your schedule is different?

I start my weekend with a Bikram Yoga session early Saturday morning... Then I try to make sure I have something to eat straight after (so I don't get too hungry which tends to lead me to over-eat!)
The other thing that I find is that generally during the weekend when I'm doing stuffs or running around; it becomes easier to not snack; which then allows slightly bigger portion meals... =)
