Make it Last
Yesterday I was discussing some older but still relevant behavior modification aspects of how to be satisfied with less food intake. One of them had to do with eating more slowly. And even though this concept was brought up way back in the 80’s it is still being researched and still getting the same results! Eating slowly helps you eat less. In fact one newer study states, “People who eat quickly until full are three times more likely to be overweight, a problem exacerbated by the availability of fast food and the decline of orderly dining habits." I would suggest eat until you are just satisfied. If you need help use the hunger scale.
So, when you dive into that Halloween candy later this week, make sure you've planned and consumed a nice dinner that evening prior to any party or activity (so you aren't starving when exposed to all the goodies) and then opt to eat a few pieces of only your favorite candy. Eat it slowly and mindfully.
