"God's Pharmacy" and Eating Vegetables

J0438442 I am always reminding my clients to eat more fruits and vegetables because of all their health enhancing properties, in addition to how they promote satiety while trying to lose weight. Recently a friend sent me a link to a wonderful blurb called God's Pharmacy.   I loved the article because of how it discussed various fruits and vegetables in terms of how they looked and functioned around health benefits. Here are just a few of my favorites:

  • If you slice a carrot, it resembles a human eye. And we all know how carrots enhance eye functioning. After all you never saw Bugs Bunny wearing glasses!
  • For a few years now studies have pointed out how nutrients from grapes are heart healthy. Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of a heart and each grape resembles a blood cell.
  • I always encourage my clients to eat garlic and onions for helping with detoxification. More and more studies confirm how they help clear a lot waste materials from the cells. Every time I cut an onion I am now reminded of how this food resembles our cells and helps detoxify our body. (And how my eyes water while cutting them - part of the cleansing action!)
  • The statement about kidney beans was fascinating too, because, well these beans really do look like our kidneys. I'm not convinced about restoring kidney function but they are generally a very healthy food full of fiber and other good nutrients.

So back to nature and back to health while you are losing your weight!
