Eating Like an Olympian

Today starts the Olympics in Beijing and to keep the athletes fueled and ready for their events ARAMARK will be preparing meals for over 10,000 athletes. According to Olympics   HealthCastle.com there will be traditional Chinese dishes served as well as foods from the Mediterranean, the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. The focus of all the meals will be on lean meats and fish, fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. To help the athletes make good choices to stay at the top of their game there will be Registered Dietitians in the dining room 12 hours a day.

How can you eat like an Olympian...

Follow the principles of how the athletes eat:

  • Make sure your meals have lean proteins such as chicken, turkey, or fish
  • Incorporate vegetables into as many meals or have them as a snack
  • Make the switch to whole grain products for added fiber and nutrition
  • Snack on fruit when you need a sweet treat

Here are some more tips from Olympic athletes on healthy eating.
