Courage to Lose Weight - 1
It's a fact. Very few people can lose weight easily and keep it off. Only five percent of dieters actually succeed. But what is it about successful people? What do they have that others don't have? Would you believe for a lot of us, it's about courage? One huge issue I see is how many people need to have the courage and strength to acknowledge uncomfortable feelings. And then they still have to tackle daunting food and lifestyle challenges. Definitely, all of this takes courage.
Most people in one way or another eat to soothe feelings. Food alters our brain chemistry. With women it's frequently about serotonin and with men it may be more about dopamine. (And, these are only just two brain chemicals that impact how we feel emotionally.) So when you finally have the courage to feel the truth of your real emotions (and do something about them) without the extra food, this is big.
Additionally, there is all the shopping, planning, cooking, socializing, and exercising that also take courage to implement within the context of a hectic and stressful lifestyle that most of us are involved in. Sometimes it is all so overwhelming it's downright scary!
More on developing courage tomorrow.
