Is Your Work Place a Dieting Temptation?
Last week a blogger presented her own diet challenge of working at a bakery in response to my blog. How does a person get through the constant taunting of sights and smells of fresh baked goods and sweets? Is your work place a food establishment that invites more temptation?
Regardless of where you work it's important to eat three healthy balanced meals and snacks every day to keep blood sugar even and to alleviate physiological hunger.
And honestly, to avoid constant deprivation, I would actually include a small amount of something you enjoy from the bakery every few days or so. Make it actually part of your food plan, not an addition! I would find out from ND tools the exact nutrient count so you to know how to balance the bakery goods with the rest of your food intake. Normally bakery goods (and most restaurants in general) are high in carbs and fats so you will need to balance that out with food intake. I would also keep a food diary or use ND's Pantry to record it and stay honest.
Chewing gum is a trick that might take away the impulse to taste things without thinking.
To keep your eye on the ultimate goal of losing weight I would really make it a point to review personal motivators and do it frequently. Check my blog on March 9th for the specifics on this very thing. I would make it a point to always have a list of those incentives in your wallet so when temptation gets really overwhelming you can look at that list frequently and remember why you are losing weight.
Enlist the support of someone who actually works in your environment who you can lean on when the temptations get unbearable. Just agree mutually ahead of time on what that person can say to you during those times so you don’t end up getting mad at her when she tries to help you.
Readers what do you do when you are tempted to eat things not on your food program, especially in an eating environment?
