A 30-minute, low-carb meal

30-minute meals have become a trend. When coming home from a long day at work you want to prepare dinner quickly, yet still have something that helps you stick to your weight loss plan.
Seared_arctic_char
If you are following a low-carb lifestyle then Seared Arctic Char with Broccolini, Olives and Garlic will become a staple in your meal plan. Each serving contains a large portion of fish, 7 ounces, which will help you feeling satisfied after this flavorful meal. Per serving there are 8 grams of carbs; a nutritional profile of this recipe is available.

If you are just cutting calories for weight loss you can reduce the amount of fish you consume to 4 or 5 ounces. If it fits into your daily plan then and add some more vegetables or a serving of whole grains to make yourself a complete meal. Don't forget to save this recipe to your Nutrition Data Pantry.

On the TV show the Biggest Loser the contestants lose up too 15 pounds per week. If it requires a 3500 calory loss to lose 1 pound then it must requore a 52,500 calorie loss to lose 15 pounds in a week. What does someone do to burn 52,500 calories per week? It seems like it should be impossible except that there are several people getting on TV each week doing it?

Thanks

Dave - You are correct that it requires 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound. When you hear that people lose 15 pounds a week you wonder how the math works out.

You have to remember that the people on the Biggest Loser are in a contained environment. They follow strict diets and work out excessively. I have also heard former contestants say that they use steam rooms and saunas to drop a few pounds of water weight before weight in. This is how a 15 pound weight loss can happen.

I do not think this is a healthy way to go about weight loss; it is not very realistic. Set a goal to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Make healthy lifestyle changes and you will keep the weight off.
