Fast Food Makeovers

J0399689 Recently I was reviewing a book by David Zinczenko called Eat This, Not That. It gives you typical fast food choices that a person might ordinarily consume while out and then offers a slightly healthier solution with fewer calories. (The book actually offers much more information in addition to this great feature.) Keep in mind none of the foods are particularly healthy but if you are in the process of transitioning to healthier options in baby steps this book might make that transition easier.

For example:
At Dairy Queen instead of having a small Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard with 720 calories, 28 grams of fat, and 78 grams of sugar, choose the small Chocolate Sundae with 280 calories, 7 grams of fat and 42 grams of sugar.

At Chipotle's instead of having a Chicken Burrito with 1,169 calories, 47 grams of fat and 2,656 grams of sodium, choose a Chicken Burrito Bowl with 489 calories, 22 grams of fat  and 1006 grams of sodium.

At the Outback Steakhouse, instead of the Ayers Rock Strip Steak with 1,450 calories, 85 grams of fat and 87 grams of carbohydrates, have the Prime Minister's Prime Rib with 730 calories, 39 grams of fat, and 65 carbohydrates.
