Easier Guidelines for Better Food Choices? - 1
It's been estimated that almost 50% of most people's food dollars is spent on meals outside the home which is definitely contributing to the obesity problem. What would help people to make healthier choices?
A survey of 600 participants done at Silvergreens restaurant near Santa Barbara California utilizes Nutricate, a new technology which prints meal nutrition right on your receipt.
These were the findings:
- "87% of us do want restaurants to provide more nutrition information about the meals served at their establishments. 70% of respondents rank the receipt as their favorite way to receive this information and they prefer it personalized rather than on a menu board or package label."
My comment: Maybe if people knew first hand what they were eating in this easy simplified way they could learn to eat better. Information is available in many restaurants but not easily assessable. People don't have a lot of time or won't take the time to do this on their own.
- "The favorite features of the Nutricate receipts were customization and meal nutrition totals. Most people, 88%, do read the receipt most or every time."
My comment: Seeing something for what it really is can be an eye opener, especially nutrition total on fats carbs, and protein. Once again, people will look at the information if it's easy to find.
We are nation that wants and needs this quick fix solution. And this just might work. Tomorrow I'll finish up with the rest of the results.

Hi Fatima,
This theory has been around since the early 90's. I will do a blog on it on Tuesday for you.

i have recently heard about "negative calorie foods". these foods take more calories, than they contain, to digest, therefor burning calories. for eg: an orange has about 80 calories but it will take up 100 calories to digest. do you think this is possible?
