Tired of Water?

J0402019 Many dieters get tired of drinking water all the time. I can understand that.  But water should be your first choice as it helps the liver metabolize fat and helps you lose weight. So if you are looking for something to drink in addition to water maybe look at some of these options:

  • Sparkling and flavored waters may be something you can enjoy.  Just be careful to read the label and check the calorie/sugar count so you know how many calories you are consuming.  I would avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucrolose commonly found in flavored waters. Another version of a flavored water is "Ultra Premium Water".
  • "Vitamin" waters are also popular but they frequently come with added sugars and actually contain very little vitamin content.  "Smart Water" is one which has no sugar, added minerals, and a clean taste.
  • In my opinion all sodas (in excess) are unhealthy, diet or otherwise. Monica has discussed the problems of high fructose corn syrup several times regarding this in sodas. Artificially sweetened sodas aren't good for you either.
  • Teas are a nice option (with no calories). In terms of flavors, there's something for everyone.  Many teas are loaded with natural health enhancing flavonoids and antioxidants.  Flavorful green teas have gotten a lot of attention being that they have a thermogenic (fat burning) agent and they may help to prevent cancer.  Black tea, oolong tea and white tea also have many nutrients. Yerbemate tea has been a popular beverage for many years and researchers are finding it has a lot of antioxidants too.
