Planning Healthy Meals - Part 1

J0386386 Last week I mentioned a mistake dieters frequently make by not planning their meals appropriately. One client said she just simply didn’t know how to do it. So here are some tips for effective planning:

  • Make planning and shopping a priority at least once a week, no matter what!
  • Plan your meals to last for two days at a time rather than cooking from scratch every day. (Try to cook vegetables daily as they lose most of their nutrient value after a day.) Another option is to use your leftovers for lunch the next day.
  • Note that rice, pasta, and grains can be cooked in quantity and frozen. This may make it easier to pull a meal together in a busy week.

Tomorrow I'll provide a few more tips.

Hi,

I am trying to plan my meals better, but in my experience some meals keep better than others. I have a very busy schedule (like most people, i'm sure) and I can't always make my meals fresh. What salad recipes keep well? I'm most interested in lentil and bean salad recipes. Do you have reccommendations?

Thanks,

Leah
