Is Exercise Causing You to Over Eat?

Isexercisingcausingyoutoovereat There are basically three scenarios that occur when you begin an exercise routine for the first time. They all have to do with your appetite and how you it reacts to this new stimulus.

Scenario #1:

Exercise acts as an appetite suppressant. Sometimes when you workout your heart rate and adrenaline get pumping and the desire for food takes a back seat.

Scenario #2: Exercise creates an increased appetite. When your body burns more calories in the form of energy expenditure you may feel a greater desire to eat.

Scenario #3: Exercise creates no noticeable appetite disturbance.

In my 11 years of weight loss coaching I have seen a fairly even split between the three. However, #2 seems to give people the most problems when trying to adhere to a weight loss program.

As a result, in my next post I will outline some key points to help reduce the hunger pangs while still maintaining a high quality workout routine. By timing your meals around your workouts you just may be able to eliminate those "hungry horrors" once and for all.
