Should I Workout at Home or in the Gym?

HomeworkoutDoes one location hold the potential for you to lose more weight?

I get asked this question a lot by people wondering what will offer them better results in terms of weight loss.

The truth is

both home workouts and gym exercise programs can be an excellent way to burn body fat. The bigger question is, which one works best for you?

I find that people who enjoy more of a social aspect and support group to aid in their workout efforts choose the gym over working out at home alone. The gym also offers more equipment options and amenities, which for some people may be very appealing.

Others find the additional round-trip of having to drive to the gym and change clothes more of a hassle and opt for a quick 20-30 minute home fitness program. Home workouts also don't have a recurring monthly fee, and with the money saved you can invest in a pair of adjustable dumbbells and a few other essential items to round out your home gym.

It all comes down to usage rates.

Where are you most likely to actually workout? Does the commute of the gym turn you off? How about not having all those fancy workout pieces? In the end you need to find out what is the best fit for your personality.

After you have the answer, make sure you pencil the time into your schedule to get in those workouts!

I have tried both and prefer home... exercise bike and dumbbells... plus a floor mat for crunchies and flutter kicks in front of the TV... also have formed a habit of doing pushups whenever my daily activities take me past a certain ( secluded) spot that I come upon at least once daily (When I first started I could do about 25 pushups... I'm routinely doing between 60 and 80 now). Also ride bicycles (I have 7 of them now) instead of using my car whenever possible. I'm up to about 10 to 20 miles a day... I make a game out of watching sports... by doing a predetermined exercise exercise routine whenever somebody gets a home run, touchdown, etc... (The Red Sox and the Patriots have just about killed me this year!).
Two years ago I weighed 390 pounds... down to 255 now...
