Indulge Without Guilt

J0422846 Everyone certainly looks forward to their favorite holiday dishes on Thanksgiving Day, but is it really necessary to overeat to the point of not feeling well?

This year indulge without the bulge! Many years ago Jenny Craig had a saying:  "Taste everything, but eat nothing!"  This translates into taking one to two tablespoons of the things you truly enjoy. Avoid consuming excess food just because it’s there and it’s expected of you. Hold off putting it on your plate if you don’t even enjoy it. Take the time to mindfully consume and enjoy every single bite of your dinner.

For those of you who plan on being especially vigilant on Thanksgiving, think about limiting your alcohol. It weakens your overall resolve around food and actually contributes to fat storage more than any other food! The Diabetic Exchange System actually counts a serving of wine (four ounces) equal to two servings of fat, and it's an additional 100 calories.

Happy Thanksgiving! Don’t forget to remember what you are truly thankful for this year.
