PowerBlock Dumbbells: Product Review

Are you looking for an efficient way to save space and get a great workout at home?

PowerblockA while back I was looking for those exact things and decided to pick up a pair of PowerBlock dumbbells made by PowerBlock. I chose this brand because they had a “Personal PowerBlock” dumbbell set that actually went up to 45lbs and was expandable to 60lbs per dumbbell.

Since most dumbbell block sets only reach 30lbs in weight this seemed to be my best option.

Although the Personal PowerBlock set functioned as advertised, I was somewhat turned off by

their massive square frame. I understand this large frame allows for proper weight distribution and overall better balance, but it does come at a price.

Switching weights requires pulling out a duel-pronged pin which you reinsert into their corresponding slots to increase weight stacks. Although this process isn’t very time consuming, other manufacturers use a “click system” which allows you to just turn a knob to add or subtract weight.

The last downside and by far the most significant was the fact that the Personal PowerBlock dumbbells rattle as you lift the weight. Although there doesn’t seem to be any risk that they will come apart, it is fairly distracting having to listen to them move around as you use them.

Overall I like the fact that PowerBlock makes heavier dumbbells for home use, but with multiple drawbacks and a price tag of $249.00 I still prefer my adjustable weights.

i just got my powerblock dumbbells and i love them. I use them for the p90x program and they are perfect for it. It took me awhile to find the perfect dial up dumbbells and after looking around and doing allot of research powerblock was the best. They are easy to use and easy to store. i reccommend them to everyone.
